No decision taken to open schools on June 1 in Punjab, clarifies govt

LAHORE - Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas on Wednesday rubbished the rum-ours about opening of schools from June 1 in the province amid rising number of corona-virus cases in the country.
He clarified in a tweet that no decision has been made, saying discussions are underway in this regard.
The education minister said that lives of children and teachers are the top priority of the government, adding that a final decision will be announced by him.
He also urged the people to not follow the fake news regarding the opening of schools.
He wrote, "Let it be very CLEAR for all concerned. No decision has been made regarding opening of schools on June 1st, 2020. Discussions are underway. Lives of our Children & Honorable Teachers is priority number one. Everything else can wait. Unless you hear from me, rest is FAKE NEWS!"
The Punjab government had closed the school in March till May 31 in order to stem the spread of the corona-virus  infection

Punjab Assembly deputy speaker tests positive for coronavirus

LAHORE - Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Sardar Dost Mazari tested positive for corona-virus as total cases surged to 29,465 in Pakistan.  Mazari said that he took test from a private laboratory and it came back negative but the result of public lab showed him corona-virus positive.  "Apparently I had developed no symptoms," he said, adding that he will take another test after few days. Mazari has self-isolated himself. The number of corona-virus cases in Pakistan rose to a total of 29,465 on Sunday, according to government data. The death toll related to COVID-19 has reached 639, according to the National Command and Control Center, while at least 8,023 patients have fully recovered. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported highest number of deaths, a total of 234, while Punjab and Sindh follow with 192 and 180 fatalities respectively. Honda increases car prices again

KARACHI - Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Limited has increased the prices of all of its variants by up to Rs 120,000 with effective from the 5th of May 2020, according to a letter sent to all its dealers on May 4. As per the letter, the price of Honda City has been increased by up to Rs 70,000, BR-V's by up to Rs 100,000 whereas the price of Civic has been revised upward by up to Rs 120,000.
