No decision taken to open schools on June 1 in Punjab, clarifies govt

LAHORE - Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas on Wednesday rubbished the rum-ours about opening of schools from June 1 in the province amid rising number of corona-virus cases in the country.
He clarified in a tweet that no decision has been made, saying discussions are underway in this regard.
The education minister said that lives of children and teachers are the top priority of the government, adding that a final decision will be announced by him.
He also urged the people to not follow the fake news regarding the opening of schools.
He wrote, "Let it be very CLEAR for all concerned. No decision has been made regarding opening of schools on June 1st, 2020. Discussions are underway. Lives of our Children & Honorable Teachers is priority number one. Everything else can wait. Unless you hear from me, rest is FAKE NEWS!"
The Punjab government had closed the school in March till May 31 in order to stem the spread of the corona-virus  infection

NCC meeting will decide future of lockdown this week

ISLAMABAD - Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Asad Umar on Sunday said the National Coordination Committee on Corona-virus would decide about the future course of lock-down after analysis and observations to be presented by National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). The meeting would be held this week with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair, to decide the post-May, 9 scenarios in the country. Utility stores to stay open till 9:00pm in Punjab

LAHORE – The Punjab government has extended the time that utility stores in the province can remain open.  According to the notification issued on Sunday, utility stores are now allowed to remain open from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. Previously, utility stores could stay open till 5:00 pm. It comes after the Punjab government asked the Centre to open industries and businesses to further relax the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19.
